Describe a new law you would like to introduce in your country

You should say:

– What law it is

– What changes this law brings

– Whether this new law will be popular

– How you came up with the new law

– And explain how you feel about this new law

In every society, there comes a time when new laws are needed to address evolving challenges and aspirations. In the context of Indian Punjab, I believe a law mandating compulsory tree plantation for every household would be highly beneficial.

The proposed law would require each household to plant and maintain at least two trees in their premises or nearby public areas. This law aims to combat deforestation, improve air quality, and contribute to a healthier environment. Punjab, with its rich agricultural heritage, has seen significant environmental degradation due to urbanization and intensive farming practices. By introducing this law, we can restore ecological balance and ensure a greener future.

The changes brought about by this law would be manifold. Firstly, it would significantly increase the green cover, reducing pollution and mitigating the adverse effects of climate change. Secondly, it would foster a sense of responsibility and community participation among citizens, as everyone would contribute to the betterment of the environment. Lastly, it could also enhance the aesthetic appeal of urban and rural landscapes, making Punjab a more attractive place to live and visit.

I believe this new law would gain popularity, especially among environmentally conscious individuals and communities. The growing awareness about climate change and its impacts would further support the acceptance and implementation of this law. I came up with this idea while reflecting on the increasing air pollution and the declining green cover in our region.

Overall, I feel very positive about this new law. It addresses a critical issue and has the potential to bring about significant environmental and social benefits. As the saying goes, “Every cloud has a silver lining,” and I believe this law could be the silver lining in our fight against environmental degradation.

Follow-Up Questions

1.     What rules should students follow at school?

Students should adhere to several fundamental rules to maintain a conducive learning environment. These include respecting teachers and peers, attending classes regularly, completing assignments on time, and maintaining discipline in the classroom. Additionally, they should follow the school’s code of conduct, which often covers uniform policies, punctuality, and proper use of school facilities.

2.     Do people in your country usually obey the law?

In general, people in India, including Punjab, tend to obey the law. However, adherence varies depending on the context and the perceived importance of the law. While most people follow major laws, such as those related to public safety and order, there are instances where minor regulations, like traffic rules, are not strictly followed. Public awareness and stricter enforcement can improve compliance.

3.     What kinds of behaviour are considered as good behaviour?

In my viewpoint, virtuous behaviour includes showing respect and kindness to others, being honest, helping those in need, and following societal norms and rules. In a school setting, this also means being attentive in class, participating actively in activities, and showing a willingness to learn. Demonstrating responsibility, such as taking care of personal and communal property, is also considered morally upright behaviour.

4.     Do you think children can learn about the law outside of school?

Certainly, children can learn about the law outside of school through various means. Parents play a crucial role in teaching legal and moral values at home. Community programmes, media, and public awareness campaigns also contribute to educating children about the law. Real-life experiences and observing the behaviour of adults in their community can further reinforce these lessons.

5.     What are the benefits for people to obey rules?

Obeying rules ensures a harmonious and orderly society. It promotes safety, protects individual rights, and fosters trust among community members. For students, following school rules enhances their learning experience and prepares them for responsible citizenship. In the workplace, adherence to rules maintains a productive and professional environment. Overall, rule compliance leads to stability and progress.

6.     How can parents teach children to obey rules?

Parents can teach children to obey rules by setting clear expectations and consistently enforcing them. Leading by example is crucial; children are more likely to follow rules if they see their parents doing so. Positive reinforcement, such as praise and rewards for good behaviour, can encourage adherence. Additionally, explaining the reasons behind rules helps children understand their importance and develop respect for them.
